Motorized Window Treatments Provide Energy Savings to This Net-Zero Energy Home

Somfy motors and controls are powering the stylish automated shades and draperies in architect Dan Brunn's net-zero energy Bridge House project. This 4,500-square-foot home is built over a stream is a partnership with Dwell and will serve as a demonstration of innovative and clean building processes. Together with shade manufacturer Aero Shade Co., Somfy-powered motorized shades help this green building project save energy on heating and cooling, while also providing convenience, automation, and protection from UV rays.

The Bridge House shades are powered by Somfy’s Sonesse® ULTRA 50 motors. Our Sonesse line of motors is ultra-powerful, ultra-flexible and ultra-quiet. These quiet motors can be controlled by any of Somfy’s wide range of controls, including handheld remotes, wall switches, timers, sensors, and a smartphone and tablet app that allows for automated scenes and schedules, as well as voice control. In addition, Somfy motors integrate seamlessly with major third-party automation systems to provide a complete smart home experience. 

                                              

Somfy’s Sonesse® ULTRA 50 motors are powering beautiful shades fabricated by Aero Shade Co. Somfy is proud to work with Aero Shade Co., a multifaceted company specializing in motorization for both residential and commercial projects.

The Bridge House, located in Hancock Park, is a collaboration between Dan Brunn, AIA, Principal of Dan Brunn Architecture and Dwell. This green building project stretches 210 feet and straddles a brook, giving the project its name. It exemplifies Dan Brunn Architecture’s minimalist aesthetic and dynamic spatial choreography of light and volume and was conceived as a laboratory for contemporary building and living. The Bridge House will also act as a venue for social and educational events.
