Motorized curtains are installed on a rail that contains a motor. For automated curtains, you choose which way they open: left, right or in the middle, and Somfy motors take it from there. If you choose an automatic curtain opener that opens to the right, the fabric gathers on the right side of the window. The same goes for the left. If you opt for a central opening, then the two curtains open to either side of the window. Make sure you have plenty of space on one or both sides of your window for the light to come in when the drapes are open.
