Testimonial: CytexOne Brings Somfy Shades to the Four Seasons

“We had to ensure that our name was not sacrificed, even a smidge, and Somfy delivered.”

While motorized shades are the perfect fit for that hard-to-reach window, the true power of Somfy® is that our solutions work for both residential and commercial projects. Not only can Somfy motorize a shade above the bathtub, our solutions can also power 2,000 shades in the Four Seasons hotel in New York City.

Managed automation provider CytexOne uses Internet of Things solutions for projects of all sizes. It’s important to CytexOne that the services they provide to customers can be monitored and supported 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is why CytexOne was serious about finding the best solution when asked to support 2,000 motorized shades in the Four Seasons Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

For this 50 story building, CytexOne chose Somfy because of the robust integration capabilities. Since Somfy can integrate with ZigBee®, CytexOne can easily monitor all the shades in this massive building in the heart of New York City.

The full project took a year and a half to complete, with help from DEL Motorized Solutions® to install the shades. CytexOne used Somfy motors, controls, and integration devices in order to integrate the shades with Control4® and monitor the whole system using CytexOne’s monitoring system, Weave.

While 2,000 motorized shades in a 50 story hotel in Manhattan is an exciting project, CytexOne has also used Somfy solutions on smaller-scale projects. On some of these projects, CytexOne utilizes Somfy’s myLink™ Wi-Fi to Radio Technology Somfy® (RTS) bridge in order to control and integrate Somfy-powered window coverings.

Motorized window coverings are a great way to maximize privacy and energy savings in both residential and commercial buildings. CEPro recently talked to CytexOne about their Four Seasons project, the power of Somfy, and the benefits of their managed automation approach:

From CEPro:

“From an integration standpoint, Somfy kills it. It’s just nice to be able to have something that just works at scale. If it works at scale, and if it works on one-offs, there are no problems.” - Dan Levine, president CytexOne
