Expert Dealer Spotlight: Behind the Glass

Behind the Glass has served Vancouver Island, British Columbia in Canada for the last 3 years. Owned and operated by husband and wife Melanie and James Woods, the two both play a role in working with clients, cutting and sewing, and installation. Last year Somfy worked with them to provide shades for Kristine Lee, a local lifestyle influencer.

“We were very excited to be designing a unique skylight system in their new baby’s room. The baby’s room had a dormer window 14 feet up and due to it being so high it needed to be motorized,” explains Melanie. “We had to come up with a plan to block out as much sun as possible in the entire room so the baby could sleep. We installed a roller shade with side channels to block out light and created a valance to fill in that rounded void caused by the dormer’s shape.”

Kristine was pleased with the work by Melanie and James, “Behind the Glass was amazing to work with on our blind install. Melanie was so helpful, informative and very patient with us while we decided on the best fabric and motorized product for our home. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for new blinds.”

Melanie said that the project with Kristine led to several new clients and great reviews from folks in the area too.
