Expert Spotlight: Patio Systems Inc.

Patio Systems Inc. is southern Delaware’s shade specialist. They install everything from solar shades to retractable awnings and canopies. They also install sunrooms, screenrooms, decks, porches and patio covers. 

Patio Systems Founder and Design Consultant Ron Simmons has been in the home improvement business since 1979. He started out in Northern Delaware specializing in windows and kitchen/bath remodeling.

Looking to broaden his horizons, Ron took a part-time job selling awnings for Regency Awnings in 1998. Regency Awnings were powered by Somfy Motors. In fact, the owner of Regency Awnings at that time was also the first president of Somfy Motors!

Personally trained by leaders in the industry, Ron was quickly promoted to a Sales Management position. In 2001 he became a dealer for Regency Awnings, founding Patio Systems, Inc. in Lewes, Delaware.

In 2004 Ron changed manufacturers and still to this day works with CraftBilt Manufacturing. CraftBilt is also powered by Somfy, which dates Ron’s relationship with Somfy Motors back two decades!

Over the years, Patio Systems has become the largest CraftBilt dealer in the nation. They are currently averaging about 300 shade installations per year, all powered by Somfy.
