Somfy Sponsors “First to the Future” Home Series with Host Ty Pennington

Somfy Motors Power Shades and Screens in NGHTV’s New Smart Home Project with “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Star Ty Pennington.

DAYTON, NJ -- Somfy Systems, Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of radio-controlled motors for interior and exterior window coverings, announces its gold level sponsorship of NextGenHomeTV’s “First to the Future” Home series hosted by “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” star Ty Pennington. The smart home will be revealed in May and features Somfy motors in beautiful J|Geiger Shading Technology shades and motorized retractable screens by Phantom Screens, making for truly smart and convenient motorized window coverings.

“Somfy is proud to be a partner in creating a smart home that is also beautiful, functional, and energy efficient,” said Tom Murphy, Chief Operating Officer of Somfy North America. “With its emphasis on cutting-edge technology and great design, Somfy is a perfect fit for the ‘First to the Future’ Home series. Our powerful, quiet motors make homes safer, more energy efficient, and more convenient for everyday living.”

Somfy is proud to sponsor the webseries, which follows the building progress of a next-gen smart home in Palm Coast, Florida. Hosted by Ty Pennington, the show on NGHTV.com follows the steps needed to build a smart home with state-of-the-art technology and design.

The home will feature Somfy’s Sonesse® 30 motors installed in J|Geiger Shading Technology shades, allowing for complete control of all window coverings from a remote or even from Somfy’s new myLink™ mobile app. The house will also feature Somfy motors in Phantom’s Executive screens, keeping bugs out while allowing in natural light.

Since the “First to the Future” Home is located in a hurricane region, Somfy wind sensors will protect the screens by automatically retracting in high wind situations. Using Radio Technology Somfy® (RTS), these wireless motors can be controlled from the touch of a button or by tapping the screen of your favorite mobile device.

Customizable, convenient, and energy efficient, motorized window coverings are a must-have in any smart home. There are also a variety of motors to choose from, including AC and DC, battery-powered, and solar options. Somfy motors can fit into any design, meaning it’s easy to customize your window coverings to perfectly match your home décor. You no longer have to choose between beautiful design and cutting-edge technology when it comes to your window coverings.

With Somfy motorization, home owners can set schedules, create timed events, and stop worrying about whether they remembered to lower their window coverings. In addition, Somfy’s Sonesse range of motors are incredibly quiet, making this one aspect of your smart home you can easily set and forget.

“Somfy believes in helping build happier homes through motorization,” Murphy said. “We’re excited to work together with Ty Pennington and the NGHTV team to build a truly tech-savvy and convenient home.”
