Somfy is excited to debut our new range of Zigbee® 3.0 connected shades and curtains at the 2019 CEDIA Expo! Somfy’s promoter membership with Zigbee Alliance has allowed us to create innovative new products to enhance the convenience of motorized window coverings by offering a richer home automation experience. 

Our new Zigbee® 3.0 ecosystem simplifies installation and commissioning for integrators. It also offers consumers bi-directional technology and an open protocol for seamless interoperability between shading and other smart home devices. 

This new Zigbee® 3.0 bi-directional range of solutions includes the TaHoma® gateway hub with embedded RTS and Zigbee® 3.0 radio connectivity, an automation app and a full set of motors for shades and curtains. It also includes the Set & Go smartphone or tablet app to simplify installation and programming.

Now it will be even easier to create a smarter smart home! This new range creates an ecosystem that benefits manufacturers, integrators, and smart home customers. Somfy’s native Zigbee® 3.0 range of motors and controls offer bi-directional feedback, meaning users will now be able to know the exact position of their shades at any time. 

Not sure if you forgot to raise your shades so your plants can drink in some needed sunlight while you’re on vacation? Thanks to bi-directional feedback, you can now know the exact positioning of your shades. Imagine how many plants you can save! 

The TaHoma® gateway hub’s native Zigbee® 3.0 radio connectivity allows for easy voice control and third-party integration, while also connecting with legacy Radio Technology Somfy™ (RTS) solutions. You can also create the ultimate smart home with scheduled timed scenes incorporating other smart products. 

For example, you can create a party scene that will lower your shades, switch on your colored lighting and play the party playlist you’ve been agonizing over for days. Less of a party animal and more of a Netflix-all-weekend person? Create a movie night scene to dim the lighting, turn on your television, lower your shades and close your draperies all in an instant.

TaHoma® gateway hub users will also enjoy progressive compatibility with major platforms such as Amazon Alexa, IFTTT, Google Assistant and other third-party devices as compatibility becomes available. It also seamlessly integrates with third-party automation systems including Control4®, Crestron, Savant, Elan, and more.

As part of Somfy’s new Zigbee 3.0 range of connected solutions shown at CEDIA, we’ll also be debuting our new Set & Go app. The Set & Go app is a commissioning tool that provides step-by-step programming instructions, including the ability to copy and paste settings for programming multiple shades. This new app will make life easier for installers and manufacturers, so they can save time and maximize profit potential.
